Gaming revenues from the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi in Michigan are helping the local community. Under the Class III gaming compact, 2 percent of net winnings from electronic machines at the FireKeepers Casino go to the community. The FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board just awarded $187,875 in grants for local schools and governments. “The Local Revenue Sharing Board is thrilled to allocate these funds to these deserving organizations, board chair Ken Tsuchiyama said in a press release. The tribe has shared $58 million with the state and local communities since the casino opened in August 2009. The state receives up to 8 percent of the net win from electronic Class III games.
