Quapaw Tribe cites $1B contribution to economy from casino

The Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma welcomed visitors to its new casino hotel on Friday amid a study that put the economic impact of the facility at over $1 billion.

The Downstream Resort Casino has pumped more than $225 million into the economy every since since it opened in July 2008, according to the study. The impact will grow even more as the tribe expands the facility, which now includes a $50 million, 152-room hotel.

“We still have a long way to go, but I think these results show that we are doing pretty well so far,” Chairman John Berrey said at a press conference, The Miami News-Record reported.
