Seminole Tribe opens $25M makeover of first gaming facility

The Seminole Tribe of Florida debuted a $25 makeover of its first gaming facility.

The tribe was a pioneer in Indian gaming when it opened a high stakes bingo hall in 1979. The newly renamed Seminole Classic Casino celebrated its grand reopening on Thursday with special guests and specials from that year.

"That was our original vision, but keeping it was one of the smartest decisions we ever made," Seminole Gaming CEO James Allen told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "It's truly a valuable part of our business."

The makeover was the work of Seminole Development and Construction, a new partnership between the tribe and Stiles Construction. The tribe plans to bid on 8(a) with the new company.
