Supreme Court rejects petition in Seminole Tribe casino dispute
Monday, January 7, 2013
The
U.S. Supreme Court
won't be hearing
Contour Spa at the Hard Rock v. Seminole Tribe
, a casino business dispute.
The
Seminole Tribe
of Florida waived its sovereign immunity in a 10-year lease with a tenant at the
Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood
. But the agreement was never approved by the
Bureau of Indian Affairs
so it is invalid, the
11th Circuit Court of Appeals
said in a decision from August 2012.
The Contour Spa, which was ousted as a tenant at the casino in March 2010, asked the high court to review the decision. The justices rejected the petition without comment in an
order
today.
