Woman deported after winning jackpot at Pascua Yaqui casino

A woman who won $1,200 at the casino owned by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona was deported after authorities found out she was in the U.S. illegally, The Arizona Republic reports.

Mirna Valenzuela hit the jackpot at the Casino del Sol Resort last month. The facility was required by federal law to ask for ID for tax purposes since she won at least $1,200.

Tribal police determined the ID was valid but they also discovered that she was in country illegally. She was turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol and deported to Mexico.

The woman's daughter, Zamira Osorio, was also turned over. But she was released because she qualifies for a "deferred-action" immigration program, the Republic said.
