The
Tsuu T'ina Nation of
Alberta started construction on a $65 million casino expansion project that has neighbors worried about increased traffic.
The band is adding a 178-room hotel, a 2,000 seat
entertainment venue and increasing the size of the gaming floor at the
Grey Eagle Casino.
Residents say they have been caught off guard by the project.
“We can’t just stick your head in the sand and say it’s not happening,” Wayne Frisch, the president of the Rutland Park Community Association, told The Calgary Herald. “We’ve got giant cranes over there right now and they’re digging up the foundations already.”
The gaming portion is expected to open in spring 2013. The hotel is expected to open in fall 2014.
