Enterprise Rancheria takes big step forward for gaming project

The Enterprise Rancheria of California cleared a major hurdle in its decade-long quest to build an off-reservation casino.

The tribe signed agreements with Yuba County and the city of Marysville back in 2002. After a lengthy federal review process, the Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the tribe's off-reservation casino application last September and its land-into-trust application last month.

"This is our final step with the federal government," Chair Glenda Nelson told The Sacramento Bee, referring to the land-into-trust approval.

The tribe's Class III gaming compact is expected to be ratified by the state Legislature early next year.
