Gun Lake Tribe shares over $8.6M in casino revenue with state

The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, is sharing more than $8.6 million in gaming revenues with the state of Michigan and local communities.

Some $7.0 million is going to the state. Another $1.6 million will be shared with local governments.

“Since the Gun Lake Casino opened under two years ago, the tribe has shared over twenty-seven million dollars with the state, local governments, schools, and many others. That does not include donations made by our charitable giving program,” Chairman D.K. Sprague said in a press release. “This is another example of the tribe living up to its word; promises made, promises kept.”

Under its Class III gaming compact, the tribe shares between 8 percent and 12 percent with the state, based on revenue. Another 2 percent is set aside for local communities.

Since the Gun Lake Casino opened in early 2011, the tribe has shared $27.1 million.
