Supreme Court won't hear suit over Miccosukee Tribe casino

The U.S. Supreme Court today rejected a petition in Furry v. Miccosukee Tribe, a case involving the Miccosukee Tribe's casino.

Tatiana Furry, a non-Indian patron, was reportedly drinking heavily at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming before she drove away. She was in the wrong lane when she collided with a vehicle driven by Kent Billie, a tribal member, in the early morning hours of January 21, 2009.

Furry died and her family sued the tribe under state and federal dram shop laws. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the case due to sovereign immunity.

Without comment, the justices declined to review the decision in an order list today.
