The
Nooksack Tribe of Washington has reached a settlement over $39 million in casino loans, The Bellingham Herald reports.
The tribe owes the money to various banks but claimed the loan agreements weren't enforceable because they hadn't been approved by the
National Indian Gaming Commission.
The tribe also raised a sovereign immunity defense.
Terms of the settlement haven't been reported.
