La Posta Band shuts down small casino due to financial issues

The La Posta Band of Mission Indians in California has closed its casino.

The La Posta Casino was one of the smallest in San Diego County, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported. The 20,000 square-foot facility offered just 349 slot machines and employed about 100 people.

The casino was financed by a $20 million loan from the Yavapai-Apache Nation of Arizona, whose leaders also funded the Santa Ysabel Band of Mission Indians. The Santa Ysabel Band failed to obtain bankruptcy protections for its faltering casino.
