Oregon governor backs tribes in bid to reject non-Indian casino
Friday, October 5, 2012
Oregon
Gov. John Kitzhaber
(D) says approving a non-Indian casino will break promises made to tribes.
Kitzhaber will appear in a campaign ad for
It's Still A Bad Idea Committee
, asking voters to reject the proposed casino. The committee is funded by the
Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
and the
Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe
.
"They kept their end of the bargain," a spokesperson for the governor told The Oregonian. "It's wrong to break our agreement."
The casino would be authorized if voters approve
three separate questions on the November ballot
.
