Michigan court blocks gaming expansion bid opposed by tribes

The Michigan Court of Appeals on Tuesday blocked a gaming expansion question from appearing on the November ballot.

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe are part of a coalition called Protect MI Vote. They successfully argued that the ballot question was poorly written and wasn't informative enough for voters.

Citizens for More Michigan Jobs vowed to appeal. The group wants voters to approve up to eight new non-Indian casinos.
