Lawmaker: Internet gaming bill in California 'doesn't look good'

The sponsor of a bill to legalize Internet poker in California doesn't think his measure will go anywhere this session.

“It doesn’t look good,” state Sen. Rod Wright (D) told The Riverside Press-Enterprise.

Some tribes with casinos support the bill, which requires potential applicants to pay a one-time licensing fee of $30 million. But the California Nations Indian Gaming Association, the largest inter-tribal group, and the California Online Poker Association, a coalition that includes some successful tribes, want to see changes to the measure.
