Narragansett Tribe to discuss casino referendum with governor
Thursday, July 26, 2012
The
Narragansett Tribe
and Rhode Island
Gov. Lincoln Chafee
(I) plan to meet to discuss a gaming referendum that's due to appear on the November ballot.
The ballot asks voters to allow table games at two non-Indian gaming facilities. The tribe contends the measure is unconstitutional but lost a decision in court that it intends to appeal.
The tribe has asked voters for approval to operate a casino but has been rejected.
