Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe ready for lawsuit on casino plan

The Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe is prepared to sue the state to assert its gaming rights, an attorney said.

One lawsuit would determine the tribe's rights under H.3702, the state's gaming law. Another would accuse Gov. Deval Patrick (D) of negotiating in bad faith.

"Hope springs eternal, but we're running out of time," attorney Scott Crowell told The Cape Cod Times. "We're skeptical we're going to get a fair shake."

The tribe is hosting public forums this week to discuss plans for a casino. The tribe also will reveal its financial backers.
