New York tribes still withholding casino revenue from state

The Seneca Nation and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe are still withholding gaming revenues from the state of New York.

The tribes were promised exclusivity for Class III games. Both say the state has allowed an expansion of non-Indian gaming in violation of their compacts.

The Senecas have withheld about $400 million. The Mohawks have withheld about $35 million.

Both tribes are willing to resolve the dispute but they say Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has done little on his side. Instead, he is pushing for a constitutional amendment to authorize more non-Indian gaming facilities.
