Connecticut tribes ask for change in liquor laws at casinos

Connecticut's two federally recognized tribes are seeking changes in liquor laws that affect their gaming facilities.

Under state law, the Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation must clear all alcoholic beverages by 2am. The proposed change would allow them to clear drinks much later, as long as they are served by 2am.

"We take the service of alcohol very, very seriously," Chuck Bunnell, the chief of staff for the Mohegan Tribe, told The New London Day. I'd make the argument that no one else in the state takes it as seriously as we do."

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy (D) is proposing the change as part of an overhaul of the state's liquor laws, the Day reported.
