Marge Anderson: More gaming a threat to tribes in Minnesota

"The White Earth Band of Chippewa is the latest group to propose going into business with the state of Minnesota on a Twin Cities casino. Many people — including band members, our employees, and neighbors — have asked what Mille Lacs Band leaders think of this.

I think it’s equally important to consider what east central Minnesota should think about this proposal — and the many other gaming expansion proposals that are already on the table. As a region where Indian gaming is a major employer, tourism attraction, source of tax revenue, and overall economic engine, what do we see as the dangers of off-reservation gaming expansion?"
