The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe and Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) are negotiating a new Class III gaming compact.
The two sides sat down on August 23, Central Michigan Life reported. But no details are being released.
“The tribe is currently negotiating its compact with the state of Michigan,” Frank Cloutier, the tribe's director of public relations, told the paper.
The compact was signed in 1993. It expires in 2013.
The compact required the tribe to share 8 percent of revenues with the state and 2 percent with local governments. The state lost its share when voters authorized non-Indian casinos in Detroit.
The tribe continues to share 2 percent with the local community.
