The Ute Tribe of Utah is moving forward with an off-reservation casino in Colorado.
The tribe recently completed a feasibility study for a casino in the town of Dinosaur. The tribe will apparently start the land-into-trust process soon.
“It’s in their ballpark now,” Mayor pro-tem Richard Blakley told The Steamboat Today.
Blakley said the tribe isn't worried about a competing off-reservation casino being proposed about 107 miles away in northern Colorado.
“They keep telling me that no one else has approached them about anything else,” he told the paper.
The Sleeping Giant Group is planning the other off-reservation casino but hasn't identified a tribal partner.
