Forest County Potawatomi Tribe to generate energy at casino

The Forest County Potawatomi Tribe will be generating energy at its casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The tribe is building an anaerobic digester at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino. The facility will convert food waste into energy, to be sold to the Wisconsin Energy Corp.

"We will be producing the energy and selling it back to We Energies under a tariff agreement, which will then count toward their renewable energy portfolio standard requirements in Wisconsin," said Jeff Crawford, the tribe's attorney general, told The BizTimes.

The facility will generate about 16 million kilowatt hours per year, enough to power 1,500 homes, BizTimes reported.
