Authorities in California say a man was murdered for his gaming per capita checks.
Alphonso John Hyde received $10,000 to $20,000 a month from an unidentified tribe.
Authorities say Frank Valles cashed $600,000 in checks belonging to Hyde, who may have been killed over four years ago.
Valles, 45, is facing a first-degree murder charge in state court and might face additional charges in federal court because of the tribal per cap connection.
A second man is also wanted in connection with Hyde's death.
Authorities have uncovered remains believed to be Hyde's but the remains are still being identified.
Hyde was born in 1964.
