The Poarch Creek Band of
Indians announced plans for a $246 million gaming facility.
Construction has already begun on the Wind Creek Wetumpka. The casino will replace an existing facility and will include a 90,000-square- foot gaming floor with more than 2,500 electronic machines and a 285-room hotel.
The tribe expects to add 600 permanent jobs. Some 1,200 construction jobs are being generated.
“In these economic times, this is something we are really happy about,” Jay Dorris, president and chief executive officer of PCI Gaming, told The Montgomery Advertiser.
The facility is expected to open in the fall of 2013.
