Leaders of communities in southeastern Massachusetts say they are being cut out of casino talks with the Mashpee Wampanoag
Tribe.
The tribe is negotiating a Class III gaming compact with Gov. Deval Patrick (D). A deal is expected to be announced as early as this week and local leaders say it should address their concerns.
“From what we’ve seen and what we’ve heard, no one is listening,” Middleboro Town Manager Charles J. Cristello told The Brockton Enterprise.
The tribe walked away from a gaming agreement with Middleboro and is now working on a casino in Taunton.
