Sioux Community of Minnesota will pay $75 million over 10 years as part of a new partnership with a non-Indian racetrack.
In return, Canterbury Park agreed to oppose efforts to expand non-Indian gaming in the state.
The deal goes before the Minnesota Racing Commission next week for final approval.
"I'm glad they worked something out and this should allow the Legislature to focus on things more important than gambling," Kevin Leecy, the chairman of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Indians, told The Minneapolis Star Tribune. He said the deal will benefit all tribes in Minnesota.
