California and Oklahoma boast most tribal gaming machines

Tribal casinos in California and Oklahoma are home to more gaming machines than any other state in the nation, except for Nevada, according to a new report from the American Gaming Association.

As of 2011, tribes in California hosted 67,601 gaming machines. The state is home to 70 Indian gaming facilities.

Oklahoma, with 114 tribal casinos, was a close second. Tribes there hosted 64,000 gaming machines, according to the State of the States report.

Combined, the two states alone boasted nearly 40 percent of the total number of gaming machines at tribal facilities. Only Nevada, with 183,319 gaming machines at tribal and non-Indian casinos, had more machines.
