The Seminole Tribe of Florida is spending $75 million to expand one of its casinos and more growth is expected at other facilities.
The tribe is adding 800 slot machines, 12 table games and a 1,300-car garage to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa.
About 400 people are being hired for new positions at the facility.
The tribe is also planning to add a hotel to the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, although plans are still being discussed.
The hotel could have as many as 1,000 rooms.
The Seminole Casino in Immokalee is also due for an upgrade, an executive said.
“The Seminole Tribe is very bullish on Southwest Florida," John Fontana, president of the Hard Rock in Tampa, told The Gulf Coast Business Review.
