Negotiations between the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and the town of Middleboro, Massachusetts, have reached a standstill, a local official said.

The tribe entered into an agreement with the town to host a casino there. But the deal fell through and now the tribe has found a new gaming site.

The town, however, wants a money and cash settlement for its troubles. That would apparently include 125 acres that the tribe bought in 2007, The Brockton Enterprise reported.

The town also wants state and federal officials to block approval of a new casino until a settlement is reached.
