The Menominee Nation of
Wisconsin hopes to see some movement on its off-reservation casino application.
The tribe originally anticipated a decision from the Bureau of Indian Affairs sometime in May. But the application is still at the Midwest Region office.
The tribe is now seeking an expedited review from the Midwest region. Then it can be sent to the BIA's central office in Washington, D.C., for a ruling.
"We feel good that they’ve set aside a half a day for us up there and the chairman of the tribe and our lawyer are going to be going over every piece of documentation," project director Eric Olson told The Kenosha News.
