Tribal casinos blamed for gaming woes in northern Nevada

Tribal gaming in northern California continues to negatively impact non-Indian casinos in Reno, Nevada, according to some experts.

Tribes have enticed gamblers who would otherwise go to Reno to stay closer to home. One of the most successful facilities is the Thunder Valley Casino Resort, owned by the United Auburn Indian Community.

"Thunder Valley and its peers took away a significant portion of the revenue from Reno," Ken Adams, an industry consultant in Reno, told The Sacramento Bee.

The national economic recession also had an impact on Reno.
