There's conflicting reports about the status of the
Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe land-into-trust application.
The tribe filed the application in August 2007. It included 539 acres in the town of Middleboro and 140 acres in the town of Mashpee.
The Middleboro site was to be used for a casino. But the Bureau of Indian Affairs has reportedly rejected the application as incomplete.
Chairman Cedric Cromwell, however, says the application has only been put "on hold."
It will be updated for the tribe's new gaming site in Taunton.
"At that point, the BIA will continue its review from where it left off," Cromwell told GateHouse News Service.
