The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is in settlement talks with the town of Middleboro, where it once planned to build a casino.
The tribe and the town entered into an agreement in 2007. The deal fell apart and the town is reportedly looking for a cash and land settlement.
The tribe went looking for other casino hosts and has decided to build in Taunton. The tribe has entered into an option to buy 77 acres there.
The tribe would need to have the land placed in trust before opening a casino.
The tribe's land-into-trust application had included the site in Middleboro.
