The Fond du Lac Band of Lake
Superior Chippewa Indians wants to expand its off-reservation casino in Duluth, Minnesota.
The tribe has asked the Bureau of Indian Affairs to add an adjacent property to the Fond-du-Luth Casino. Chairwoman Karen Diver says a bigger casino will create more jobs and generate more revenue in the city.
"The band will be expanding its employment but for the land to expand that facility, the land has to be in trust," Diver told Northland's NewsCenter.
The city, however, is opposing the request.
