The Muscogee Nation is not interested in a casino on an Indian allotment near Tulsa, Oklahoma, the tribe's chief of staff told Fox 23 News.
The allotment is held in restricted status for a member of the tribe who died last year. A Tulsa city council member claims the land is being eyed for a casino.
“We have no intentions to build a casino at 111th and Yale," Edwin Marshall, the tribe's chief of staff, told Fox 23 News in response.
Paul Chissoe, who inherited the 8.2-acre allotment, started the land-into-trust process before he died. The Bureau of Indian Affairs says his heirs can restart the process after they gain title to the land.
