The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut and the Seminole Tribe of Florida are facing more competition in their effort to open a casino in western Massachusetts.
The Mohegans were the first to state their intentions and have had a presence in Palmer for a few years. The Seminoles, through Hard Rock International, have been looking at Holyoke ever since H.3702, the state's gaming bill, became law last year.
MGM Resorts International wants a shot too. The Vegas giant will announce its plans today for a casino in Brimfield, not far from the Mohegan site.
MGM has a partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut.
