Leaders of the Shinnecock Nation met on Thursday to discuss their gaming plans after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) delivered his State
of the State address.
In addition to proposing an expansion of non-Indian gaming, Cuomo called for a large convention center at the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens. The plan -- which could include more gaming at the facility -- would threaten the tribe's plans for a casino at the Belmont Park
Raceway on Long Island.
The tribe has said it wants to open three casinos in Long Island. The Belmont site is closest to Queens.
