"The Minnesota Vikings need a new stadium. The state is struggling with how to pay for it. A White Earth proposal to build a casino and hotel in conjunction with the new stadium makes a lot of sense.
White Earth is offering to build a casino where the Vikings stadium will be located, with 4,000 slot machines, 150 gaming tables and a 500-room hotel.
It is conservatively estimated to bring in $300 million a year, which the tribe would split with the state and local governments to help pay for the new stadium complex.
The proposal, floated recently by White Earth Chairwoman Erma Vizenor, would solve a lot of problems:
It would pay the entire local and state share of the estimated $1.1 billion project — no new tax dollars needed."
