Editorial: Off-reservation casinos won't be jackpot for state

"City leaders in Sheboygan are betting on a casino for new jobs and revenue.

So are officials in economically hard-hit Beloit.

So are a lot of governors across the country, eager for an easy win after so many job losses during the recession.

But more casinos in Wisconsin — a state already flush with gambling — won't produce a jackpot.

More casinos would compete for roughly the same dollars already being spent on gambling. And the state's cut of the new casinos' profits would be offset by smaller takes elsewhere."
