New York governor includes gaming revenue in state budget

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has included $129 million in gaming revenues in the state's budget this year even though he hasn't resolved a compact dispute with two tribes.

The Seneca Nation and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe have withheld revenues from the state due to an expansion of non-Indian gaming. The Seneca Nation has agreed to mediation but nothing has happened on the state's side.

“I think to anticipate revenues one would have to have had discussions to resolve the dispute,” President Robert Odawi Porter told The Buffalo News.

The Seneca Nation has withheld about $400 million. The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe has at least $4.9 million.
