"Any expansion of the state’s gambling — either online or the introduction of new games, such as keno — has been rejected by lawmakers and the governor in the coming legislative session, at least for this year.
We have long opposed expanding state-sponsored gaming, but reluctantly conceded in an editorial last month that it appeared inevitable that online gambling was in the state’s future, especially if other states were heading in that direction and that posed a serious competitive threat to Connecticut’s lottery or its casinos.
But it now appears that neither legislators nor the governor seem interested in pursuing those avenues, and no such legislation will be brought before the General Assembly this legislative session."
