St. Regis Mohawk Tribe seeks closure of unauthorized casino

The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York ordered the closure of an "unauthorized gaming establishment" on the reservation.

The Three Feathers Casino opened last summer. It is not licensed by the tribal gaming commission.

The Kanienkehaka Kaianerehkowa Kanonhsesne, or the Men’s Council of the People of the Way of the Longhouse, runs the facility. The group says it is not under the jurisdiction of the tribe.

"We’re not part of that government over there. They have no control over us. We’re not tribal members,” Rarahkwisere, a Wolf Clan representative, told The Watertown Daily Times.
