The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is negotiating a new deal with a labor union that represents casino employees.
The agreement with the United Auto Workers expired on December 31, 2011. It was extended until March while both sides continue to talk, The New London Day reported.
The union is following tribal law and previously went into arbitration to dispute the reduction of service for an employee shuttle. The tribe has since decided to end the service altogether, which the union said it won't dispute.
"[A]fter consulting with our lawyers and local union officers, in light of the previous arbitration decision, we concluded that we would best serve our members by settling this dispute without litigation," union president Mary Johnson said in a statement to The Day.
