Businesses support Little River Band's off-reservation casino

The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians gained support for its off-reservation casino from the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce in Michigan.

The tribe owns 233 acres in and around a former racetrack in Fruitport Township. The site is about 80 miles from the reservation.

“The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors supports the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians on their current tourism industry development. We believe the project will have maximum economic impact on the Lakeshore region," the chamber said in a letter, The Muskegon Chronicle reported.

Gov. Rick Snyder (R) has said he opposes the casino.
