Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe adds more slot machines

The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has added about 100 new slot machines to its casino.

To settle a lawsuit, the tribe negotiated a new Class III gaming compact with the state. The agreement allows the tribe to add up to 500 slot machines to the Royal River Casino.

"In about six months we'll look at it, we'll determine do we need more machines, my view on it is we probably will and then we'll add more machines in at that point," general manager Steve Christensen told KELO-TV.

The old compact limited the tribe to 250 slot machines.
