Mohegan Tribe 'closer than ever' to casino in Massachusetts

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is moving closer to a casino in Massachusetts, a top gaming executive said.

The tribe wants to build a casino in Palmer, in the western part of the state. Lawmakers have approved a bill to authorize a casino in that region.

“We’re closer than we’ve ever been,” Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority CEO Mitchell Etess told The Norwich Bulletin. "But we’re not there yet.”

Etess said the tribe plans to release more details, including financial partners, about the Mohegan Sun Palmer.
