Woman sues Kiowa Tribe in state court over casino incident

An Oklahoman woman is suing the Kiowa Tribe in court over a slip and fall incident at the Kiowa Casino.

Betty Keef initially filed a claim with the tribe but it was denied. Now she's suing in state court and is seeking more than $150,000 in damages.

Keef contends the tribe waived its sovereign immunity through the Class III gaming compact. In similar slip and fall cases, the state courts have ruled that tribes waived their immunity under the agreement.
