Opinion: Rick Perry is the worst candidate for Internet gambling

"Big names and big casino operators which in the past were against the idea of having the online gambling industry legalized in the United States have turned the page and have begun to show their support, but one of the industry’s biggest opponents is Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Rick Perry has a history in Texas against legalizing online gaming, and every step of the way he has squashed any bill that was put in front of him for support. In 2009, the Texas Legislature considered passing three separate bills to expand the gaming industry, which included, legalized poker, legalized casinos and legalized slot machines at horse tracks. However, Governor Perry opposed each one and all three were put in the online gambling burial ground. In 2010, Texas was $18 billion in debit and once again the state legislature approached the Governor with the idea of expanding online gambling according to the Texas news paper “Dallas Morning News”, but once again, Governor Perry rejected the proposals and stated at a public appearance that “the Texas Legislature may find that a gambling bill should be something of interest, but I highly recommend that they don’t send it to my desk”!"
