California tribes lobby lawmakers on Internet gambling measure

California tribes are stepping up their lobbying campaigns on Internet gaming.

The California Online Poker Association, a coalition led by the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, supports Senate Bill 40, to legalize Internet poker. The group is running radio and television ads to urge lawmakers to act on the bill before a deadline passes in less than a month.

The California Tribal Business Alliance opposes the bill, as well as another one that would legalize Internet gambling. The group has asked lawmakers not to take action.
