"The Pueblo of Jemez must pursue economic development opportunities to meet the needs of our tribal community.

Our pueblo has close to 4,000 members, and we are 95 percent dependent upon federal grants.

This is a precarious way to fund a tribal government.

Our tribal leaders recognize the shrinking availability of federal dollars and that budget deficits will only make the situation worse.

We are trying to help ourselves and to achieve a degree of self-sufficiency.

The Jemez Anthony project is our path to this goal."
